Promote Your Book! [Marketing Webinar]
How to get the word out about your book—authentically and joyfully.
Hey hey! I hope your Monday is going better than mine so far—I just got two crowns installed, and while I do really like my dentist I hate that thing where your mouth is numb and wonky-feeling.
(Though this makes me officially a queen in triplicate, so I can’t complain too much.)
Now that my most recent spate of doctor’s visits is over for the year, I can turn my attention to more exciting things.
Like marketing!
Book marketing is one of those, what-do-you-call-’em…. “growth edges” for me.
For years, my preferred method of marketing a book was to shove it out the door and then wash my hands of it, muttering “We shall speak of you no more” as I turned away to write the next one.
But, it turns out that books don’t market themselves. Which is why I’m flipping my script from “I’m bad at book marketing” to “I’m learning to market my books in a way that’s authentic, joyful, and really connects with readers.”
That’s why I’m delighted to be hosting a virtual panel on book promo next week, as part of a series of online events we’re doing at the Author Alchemy Summit.
This panel is called PROMOTE YOUR BOOK! and features four fabulous authors who each have their own expert take on the topic. It’s free, and open to everyone.
Joanne McCall (joannemccall.com) is a media trainer, book publicist, and author of Media Darling—and I’m extremely excited to hear her tips for authors who want to do in-person publicity.
Marisa Crawford (marisacrawford.net) is a poet and literary activist who just finished national book tour for her newest collection, and who’s fantastic at tapping into her literary community as part of her promotion.
Lindsey Pogue (lindseypogue.com;
) is the author of the Savage North Chronicles (among other bestselling dystopian and romance novel serieses), and she’s especially talented at keeping her backlist in promotion.And Eleanor Whitney (eleanorcwhitney.com;
) literally wrote the book on the subject! Promote Your Book offers perspective, practical advice, and checklists for shepherding your new book into the wider world.The panel will be entertaining, informational, and fun!
Register here to attend for free, and be sure to bring all your pressing book promo questions.
Cheers!
